Spring Ball

Notes from Spring Practice in Columbus. Justin Zwick is the QB. Bobby Carpenter is a star waiting to happen. Here's the Two-Deep. Only two weeks till the Spring Game! I'll be there with a couple of my Bucknut buddies.

I noticed Ted Ginn's name was absent. Is he redshirting?

And what's up with having a senior punter three years in a row? Do we just have a spawn pool of these guys flowing out of the Olentangy or what?

Ginn is still in High School at Glenville, so he's not yet listed on the OSU football roster or depth charts. (He is among the nations best H.S. hurdlers and 200 meter dash men this Spring.) I doubt that he will be in the 2-deep at cornerback anyway, even when Fall practice starts. He won't redshirt, because I think he'll be running back kickoffs (if not punts as well) as a freshman. I suspect he'll play some as a 5th or 6th DB, and maybe they'll try to involve him a bit as an offensive weapon. I hope so.

Most people think that an incoming freshman (Trapasso?) will win the punting job. Huston is keeping the seat warm till September. He's the backup PK.
